Important advice on Direct Debiting
An automatic Direct Debit can only be deducted from an ‘at-call’ account; and most organisations that provide services such as gas, electricity, rates or phone are usually more than happy to accept Direct Debit arrangements. To commence using this convenient bill payment service from your Police Credit account, you (or your authorised signatory) simply need to complete and return a Direct Debit Authority form from the biller organisation to be paid - and be registered with them. In the event you have an enquiry or dispute regarding a Direct Debit transaction, you should contact the biller organisation that is holding your Direct Debit Authority. To cancel a Direct Debit Authority or stop an individual direct debit transaction, you should again contact the biller organisation before notifying Police Credit. Always remember to keep a check on your nominated Police Direct ‘at-call’ account to ensure there are sufficient available funds to cover your Direct Debit payments on their date. It is your best protection against having to pay fees associated with ‘dishonoured payments’. Also, be careful to ensure that you tell Police Credit the correct amount you wish to pay. If you instruct us to honour a Direct Debit and later discover that the amount you told us to honour was greater than the amount you needed to pay, it will then be up to you to contact the biller organisation to obtain a refund of the excess paid.
Important advice on Direct Crediting
If you wish to allocate portions of your payroll deposit to different Police Credit accounts, you can arrange this in person at any branch, or by phone via Member Response. If you wish to make changes to an existing payroll deduction, this requires completing the applicable authority with your employer. For reasons of privacy, only the person whose salary is being paid into a Police Credit account is authorised to make alterations to the allocation or to be provided with details of the salary. No other signatory to the account will be able to obtain this information. Alterations by phone via Member Response will require a Keyword to be quoted. Please note also that if your employer submits a written request for any portion of your salary to be returned to their office, Police Credit may be obliged to do so immediately.
