Transaction frequently asked questions

I bought petrol yesterday and pressed the ‘credit’ button using my PC VISA Debit Card, but there’s no transaction or authorisation listed. Why?

The retailer’s system may not have been online when your transaction was processed. This means that your transaction will be processed at a later time. So you need to ensure that there are adequate funds in your account to cover the cost of this transaction.

I was expecting a credit to my account and it hasn’t arrived yet. Why?

Generally,  external transactions take 24 to 48 business hours from the time they are initiated. Times can vary due to different cut-off times and processing periods at and between financial institutions.

I heard my last 10 transactions via Rapid Response phone banking but want to go further back. Can I?

Rapid Response provides a brief summary of your transactions. You can access more detailed transaction information and download your statement via pc.easynet. Or you can arrange to have the last month’s transactions faxed or posted to you – select option 8 (Other Services) and option 2 (Order Statement) from Rapid Response.

There’s a direct debit on my account that I don’t know what it is for. What should I do?

Select the magnifying glass next to the transaction in pc.easynet, which will provide you with additional information. If the transaction is a direct debit, it would be as a result of providing your BSB, account number and authorisation to a biller. You will need to contact the biller regarding all payment matters, including cancellation of the debit.

If the transaction is listed as a ‘Retail Sale’ then it would be a result of providing your VISA card number to a merchant for a product or service. If you are still unaware of what the debit is for, contact Member Response immediately on 13 63 73 between 8am – 5pm AEST Monday to Friday.

I’ve made a cheque and cash deposit at Westpac. Why hasn’t the cash amount cleared?

This happens when you fill out one deposit slip for both cheque and cash. To ensure your cash deposit is cleared immediately, we recommend you deposit your cash as a separate deposit.

How can I check the balance of my account?

You can view both your current balance and available balance on the ‘Welcome’ screen of pc.easynet. Rapid Response will also read your current balance and available balance to you. (Note that pc.easynet and Rapid Response both require registration prior to use.)

When are the funds for the cheque I deposited going to clear?

Cheque clearance exists on all cheques, with the exception of Reserve Bank of Australia, Australian Taxation Office cheques under $3,000 or pay cheques (by arrangement with your employer and Police Credit). Other types of cheques have a range of different clearance times.

I‘ve been charged a transaction fee on the last business day of the month. What’s this?

This charge is for exceeding your limit for a certain type of transaction on your S1 account. Check the last page of your statement for a breakdown of your transaction and the relative charges.

What’s an ‘ATM Operator Fee’?

Each time you use an ATM, the operator of that ATM can charge you for its use. This charge is in addition to the amount you are withdrawing and is known as direct charging.
